Certified nursing assistants play a key role as members of the comprehensive healthcare team in a variety of medical settings - CNAs are employed in hospitals, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, community care facilities and as home health aides in patient's homes. Regardless of where you work, many of your responsibilities will be the same; however, some duties may differ depending on the type of facility or location of employment. A certified nursing assistant's main role is to provide basic care to patients, as well as assist them in daily activities they might have trouble with on their own, such as bathing. Because of the personal nature of the job, certified nursing assistants should be compassionate and enjoy helping others.
Course Description: Concepts and practices in basic skills for Nursing Assistants. Course includes basic medical terminology, basic human anatomy and physiology, and the aging process. Students will gain understanding and application of the skills required to address the needs of the chronically ill residents.

Class/Lab Hours – 7:00 am to 3:30 pm on Feb. 28, March 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8
and 7:00 am – 3:30 pm on March 9, 2018
Clinical Hours – 5:15 am - 2:30 pm on March 14 & 15, 2018
and 6:45 am - 3:30 pm on March 16 & 21, 2018
Practice Lab Day – 7:00 am – 3:30 pm on March 22, 2018
Test Date – 7:00 am March 23, 2018
Registration Fee $350.00

· Criminal Background Check - $40.00
· Urine Drug Testing - $30.00
· Uniform – Scrubs (any solid color)
· American Heart Association CPR (will be completed in class) - $55.00
· TB testing (within the last year, two step if never done or not within last year)
· Text Book (available at City College Bookstore)
· Proof of Immunization (MMR, Tetanus/Diptheria, Hepatitis B series)
· Name Badge - $5.00

Note: This course is designed to prepare students to sit for the CNA licensing exam which will be given at the end of the course. Testing fee is $97 (in addition to Registration, Fees & Book costs).
Cancellations, Transfers, and Refunds
In the event that a non-credit course at City College does not meet the minimum number of participants, it will be canceled and participants will be called at least 5 (five) days prior to the start of the course. In the event a course is canceled, a full refund will be given or the fee can be transferred to pay for a different course.
If you must cancel your registration, you will receive a full refund if it is canceled 5 (five) business days prior to the start date of the program or course.
