The Survival Skills for the Nonprofit Leader Program is a short-term low impact manager training program that takes place once per month for five months and designed to help individuals develop the skills and knowledge to be an effective nonprofit manager. Students will learn about nonprofit management, leadership, ethics, financial operations, and laws and regulations pertaining to nonprofit governance. Students will benefit from instruction by MSUB faculty and from nonprofit leaders who bring their day in, day out experiences to the learning process.

 

ENROLLMENT IN LIMITED TO 15 INDIVIDUALS Program Cost- The total cost for the program is just $400. If you would like to be billed please be sure to provide your buisiness/organization billing information when registering. Participants will have an opportunity to build a network with peers, to share and learn from each other, and to apply what they learn to their organization.

 

The course consists of 5 class room sessions from 1-5 p.m. on the last or 4th Tuesday of each month as follows: January 29th , February 26th, March 26th, April 23rd and May 28th  , 2019.

 

CANCELLATIONS, TRANSFERS AND REFUNDS In the event that a course at MSUB Extended Campus does not meet the minimum number of participants, it will be cancelled and participants will be called at least 5 (five) days prior to the start of the course. In the event a course is cancelled, a full refund will be given or the fee can be transferred to pay for a different course. If you must cancel your registration, you will receive a full refund if it is cancelled 5 (five) business days prior to the start date of the course. After this date there will be no refunds. Sam Boerboom

Sam Boerboom is an assistant professor of media studies at Montana State University Billings. He directs the university's graduate program in public relations. Additionally, he serves as a faculty member for the University of Montana School of Law's Advanced Trial Advocacy course. Sam was a competitor for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's forensics program, placing highly in both interp (duo, prose) and public address (persuasion, communication analysis) categories at the AFA-NIET tournament. While in Nebraska Sam served as a speech coach for the Lincoln High School program, coaching several students to the state tournament. Sam has also taught at multiple University of Nebraska Summer Speech camps where he worked with multiple eventual state champions.

Paul Pope

Dr. Pope received his Doctor of Arts from Idaho State University in 2008. Paul has been with MSU Billings since 2012 and teaches for the Department of Social Sciences and Cultural Studies. He is an avid and award-winning homebrewer since 2007. He is also the Vice-President of the Rimrock Brewers Guild since 2014. Paul is the instructor for the MSUB Craft Beer Learn and Taste Series as well as several brewing demonstrations and learn-to-brew sessions with the Rimrock Brewers Guild.


Heather Thompson-Bahm

Dr. Thompson serves as the program coordinator for the Craft Brewing and Fermentation program. Dr. Thompson is originally from Colorado, where she earned her Doctorate in Management, Master in Business Administration, and Bachelor of Science in Biology. She possesses years of experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Heather has been with the Montana State University system since 2013, and with City College at MSU Billings since 2015, where she teaches business and human resource courses.
