This is worth 1 Professional Development Credit.  Professional development credits earned are not applicable to a Master’s degree offered by MSUB.  Credits may be used to fulfil K-12 licensure requirements, "lane changes" or other continuing education requirements for professionals.

 

COLLEGE CREDIT – MONTANA STATE LITERACY CONFERENCE

 

 

In order to earn 1 graduate credit:

 

 

1.       Attend 12.5 clock hours of instruction at the conference.

2.      Complete a one page reflection which answers these three questions:

1.      What new strategies did you gain as a result of this conference?

2.      How will this conference impact your teaching practice?

3.      What did you gain as a professional as a result of this conference?

 

 

3.      Submit electronically to the instructor of record, Professor Rachael Waller  - rachael.waller@msubillings.edu by October 30, 2017.

 

Course Description: (25 words or less)

Participants at the Montana State Reading Conference will learn research based and practice based literacy strategies to enhance their teaching practice.

 

Course Content Goals and Objectives: 

(Please align with at least one INTASC Standard as listed on pages 2-3 of this document.)

 

Standard 7: Planning for Instruction:   Participants will gain strategies for planning reading and writing events in their classrooms.

 

Standard 8: Instructional Strategies: Participants will gain research and practice based instructional strategies in reading, writing and technology.

 

Standard 10:  Leadership and Collaboration:  Participants will network with educators from across the state of Montana.

 

 

Assignments: 

(Include point values for each assignment and a total points possible.)

 

1.       Attend 12.5 clock hours of instruction

2.       Complete a one page reflection which answers these three questions:

1.        What new strategies did you gain as a result of this conference?

2.         How will this conference impact your teaching practice?

3.         What did you gain as a professional as a result of this conference?

Grading: 

(Students must accrue 80% of the total points possible to receive a pass for the course.  This course must be Pass/Fail and cannot be graded.)


 

Cancellations, Transfers, and Refunds

In the event that a course at MSUB Extended Campus does not meet the minimum number of participants, it will be canceled and participants will be called at least 5 (five) days prior to the start of the course. In the event a course is canceled, a full refund will be given or the fee can be transferred to pay for a different course.

If you must cancel your registration, you will receive a full refund if it is canceled 5 (five) business days prior to the start date of the program or course. After this date there will be no refunds.  Cancellations can be emailed by using the email address ecinfo@msubillings.edu or by calling (406) 896-5890.

Please note there are three different ways to register for a course through Extended Campus:  using our online system, calling us over the phone and giving us your credit card, or by coming in person to pay (by credit card or check).  If you must cancel your registration or if we must cancel a course, your refund will be issued directly back on your credit card ONLY if you paid by credit card using our online registration system.  If you call or come into our office to pay using a credit card or by check, we must issue a refund through the State of Montana which requires a completed W9 form (and you must provide your social security number).  Please keep this in mind when registering for courses.  If you have questions or problems using our online system, please contact us at either 406-896-5890 or ecinfo@msubillings.edu and we can help you.
