1. Scholars will submit a culturally sensitive one unit plan for AP Studio Art (100 points total).


-The unit plan must demonstrates understanding of the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of AP Studio Art (40 pt).


-Plan must include instruction relevant to Montana's American Indian Nation (20pt).


-Finally, the unit must contain components of best practice within the unit (40 pts).

Best practice in unit development include, but are not limited to the following: Set purpose, introduce key concepts/main idea, activate excitement and highlight relevance through culturally competent practices, activate prior knowledge, clarify key points, instruct key vocabulary, clarify ideas and correct misconceptions, develop understanding through discussion and questioning, provide new information through lecture, guided readings and small group problem solving, check for understanding (formal evaluation, observation and projects), collaborative practice and review, and closure activities to promote mastery.
