This is worth 2 Professional Development Credits.  Professional development credits earned are not applicable to a Master’s degree offered by MSUB.  Credits may be used to fulfil K-12 licensure requirements, "lane changes" or other continuing education requirements for professionals.

 

 

 

Course Description:  IEFA courses where teachers learn more about the history of Native Americans in Montana.

October 15, 2016 - The Creation of a Legacy: Chief Plenty Coups State Park, Meet at Chief Plenty Coups State Park in Pryor Montana

o   develop a list of authentic resources.

o   use authentic resources to examine contemporary culture, and historic perspectives.

o   use primary sources to supplement their lessons.

November 5, 2016 - Behind the Scenes:  A Look at the Little Big Horn College Library and Archives (9-4) Meet at Little Big Horn College Library in Crow Agency

·         Objectives

o   build content knowledge.

o   develop a list of authentic resources.

o   use authentic resources to examine contemporary culture, and historic perspectives.

o   use primary sources to supplement their lessons.

March 18 - Post Cards from the Past – Teaching with Historic Places, Locating Local History

o   build content knowledge.

o   use authentic resources to examine contemporary culture, and historic perspectives.

o   use primary sources to supplement their lessons.

April 8th  -  Understanding and Enjoying Pow Wows

·         At the end of these workshops, participants will:

o   build content knowledge.

o   develop a list of authentic resources.

o   use authentic resources to examine contemporary culture, and historic perspectives.

o   use primary sources to supplement their lessons.

Grading:  Pass/Fail

(Students must accrue 80% of the total points possible to receive a pass for the course.  This course must be Pass/Fail and cannot have a letter grade.)

Cancellations, Transfers, and Refunds

In the event that a course at MSUB Extended Campus does not meet the minimum number of participants, it will be cancelled and participants will be called at least 5 (five) days prior to the start of the course. In the event a course is cancelled, a full refund will be given or the fee can be transferred to pay for a different course.

If you must cancel your registration, you will receive a full refund if it is cancelled 5 (five) business days prior to the start date of the program or course. After this date there will be no refunds.  Cancellations must be called in and cannot be emailed.  The phone number to use is (406) 896-5890.

 

Please note there are three different ways to register for a course through Extended Campus:  using our online system, calling us over the phone and giving us your credit card, or by coming in person to pay (by credit card or check).  If you must cancel your registration or if we must cancel a course, your refund will be issued directly back on your credit card ONLY if you paid by credit card using our online registration system.  If you call or come into our office to pay using a credit card or by check, we must issue a refund through the State of Montana which requires a completed W9 form (and you must provide your social security number).  Please keep this in mind when registering for courses.  If you have questions or problems using our online system, please contact us at either 406-896-5890 or ecinfo@msubillings.edu and we can help you.
